We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Don’t know about you, but I think we have far too many attorneys interpreting this document for us, so I’m going to work my way through the whole document, section by section and tell you what I think it says and you are encouraged to comment on whether you agree or disagree with my interpretation
We the People of the United States – To me, this means all of us here in America that believe in and support this document and this philosophy and it does not mean those that are over here and are Muslim or some other nationality FIRST and American SECOND.
in Order to form a more perfect Union – You have to put yourself in their position to understand this. They had just fled the persecution and taxation of Europe and they wanted to establish a democracy where each and every one of them could be the master of their life, not somebody elses serf or peasant because that was the lot that they were born in too.
establish Justice – This is the same as the previous paragraph because many of them were unable to receive Justice in their homeland and they wanted justice for everybody, not just the Kings and Queens and other high ranking individuals.
insure domestic Tranquility – They wanted a nation without wars where they and their families could be safe and secure
provide for the common defence – This is to ensure the previous paragraph about domestic Tranquility and they were willing to put their money where their mouth and their families were.
promote the general Welfare – They wanted these things for everybody in America, not just for a few.
and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity – They wanted freedom and liberty for everybody in America and most importantly for their future generations
do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. – They all agreed that this was going to be their guidelines to help maintain a Free and Just Society for now and forever.
