What a shame.
Smith told Swisher he is worried that Republicans and Democrats will fail to reach a compromise on DACA, a program that allows undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to study and work in the country. He is also concerned that the administration will revoke a program that authorizes spouses of H-1B visa holders to work in the U.S. Smith’s third fear is that the optional practical training program for immigrant graduates with STEM degrees will be reduced, “at which point we could have thousands of people suddenly unable to work,” Smith said.
If you will read the article, you will notice how he wants to mobilize the tech industry to help these folks out.
Yet no mention of the Americans who have been forced out of the tech industry simply because we have more people than we do jobs which is what happens when we:
- Watch the population increase which means we need more jobs and
- We send jobs to other countries which decreases the jobs available we have here in America and
- We import non-immigrant guest workers which also decreases the jobs available we have here in America
- Which forces out the older, qualified, experienced, workers, and denies our children the ability to get established in the career of their dreams.
